While under private management, many of the animals on this priceless carousel had been painted many times over by the people running the concessions at Ontario Beach Park. Their intricate details were under layers of shiny, sometimes even gawdy paint that were thought to attract riders.
A true carousel enthusiast would cringe at the thought of these beautiful treasures being treated with such little regard. This horse was painted red before he was restored; his carved tail and body now show subtleties of shading that had been not seen for years.
